1000 people - 1000 years: Join the Fyshwick.com Fitness Challenge
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Greg “Robbo” Robson challenges Canberran’s to reduce their body age in a new campaign “1000 People - 1000 Years” to encourage at least 1000 people to find out their BodyAge. Over the six-week period, if everyone reduced their BodyAge by one year, the health of Canberra would improve. Over 125 Canberrans reduced their collective BodyAge by 214 years back in April.
Research has shown that any reduction in weight, increase in cardiovascular health, strength and flexibility, has a positive effect on one’s physical and mental health. Dr Dion Klein, organiser of Canberra’s BodyAgeTM challenges and CEO of Healthy Worksites, has been working on the project to determine the economic impact on the decrease in BodyAgeTM has on the local community.
Robbo and his business partner at Fyshwick.com, Leon Buchanan, recently underwent a general health and fitness assessment and were both shocked to learn that their body ages were around 10 years older than their actual ages. As both are in their 40’s, the future health implications were serious – high blood pressure, heart disease & diabetes among them.
“I’m trying to get people inspired to perspire”, Robbo says. “It is obviously a concern for me, and there are many others out there in the same boat that would probably like to lose some kilos but just need a bit of motivation”.
Robbo’s Fitness Challenge is being aimed at everyone – individuals can take part on their own, or they can challenge their workmates and make it a team event. There are over $3500 in prizes on offer as an extra incentive.
“With the arrival of spring, now is the perfect opportunity to get out and take advantage of this beautiful city we live in and lose weight at the same time. It’s also a great opportunity to get in shape in time for the Christmas and holiday season”.
The challenge will run for 6 weeks from the date of registration and Robbo will be providing updates on his own progress through local media outlets.
